This farm-to-table and nose-to-tail restaurant serves a creative menu of delicious fine dining dishes. While the incredible French food with a distinctly Texan flair is what get people in the door, it is the casual, welcoming neighborhood vibe that has made it a favorite of locals and a destination for visitors. Be sure to make a reservation at this small and popular spot.

Quack's 43rd Street Bakery

Laid back local coffee shop and bakery

While Captain Quackenbush's Intergalactic Dessert Company and Espresso Café was a staple of slacker and student life on The Darg in the 80's and 90's, they closed their doors in '98 but still operate at this Hyde Park location. Stop in for some caffeine and truly divine baked goods, with the Key Lime Pie, salty oat cookie, and Nutella tea cookie being favorites. They recently opened Captain Quackenbush's Coffeehouse in South Austin.

This casual, colorful spot has a full menu of quality Tex-Mex classics, including the popular enchiladas verdes, chalupas, and breakfast tacos. But the real draw here is their incredible roasted chicken, which pairs nicely with one of their margaritas. Bring cash, because this neighborhood spot doesn't take cards.

Uchiko

Sushi spot with great happy hour

Red Heart Full_3x.png
Red Heart Outline.png

Great sushi comes at a price, but luckily this spot has happy hour deals on drinks and rolls from 5 to 6:30pm everyday. And because it comes from the people behind the popular Uchi, you get great sushi but with less of a crowd than it's popular sister.
